How to have the best New Balance Fall Classic

Days before race

  • Pick up shirt/jacket or tights at Rackets & Runners before race

  • Watch weather forecast (looks like a dazzling day!)

  • Pack all my things the night before – set race gear aside and pack a happy bag with a change of clothes

  • Stay well-hydrated

  • Find out what time my race starts (Half=8:30; 10k=9:30; 5k=10:00)

  • Think about taking bicycle (free secured parking) or public transit

  • OR Arrange for carpooling with friends – print out parking map

Race morning

  • Get up with plenty of time for breakfast and travel – the NBFC starts on time

  • Arrive 1 hour before race start

  • Pick up bib & chip at SRC

  • Grab a pair of raceday gloves if it’s chilly

  • Drop happy bag to bag check (bring a small donation for Heart & Stroke)

  • Race with a smile and have fun along the way

Finish

  • Go to SRC for bag pickup

  • Go for shower (bring a small donation for Heart & Stroke)

  • Go to gym in SRC for post-race treats of chili, mimosas, cake, fudge bars & fruit

  • Hang with friends and win prizes

  • Shop at R&R/New Balance booth

  • Have a massage at the Heart & Stroke booth (bring a donation for Heart & Stroke)

  • Enjoy a Van Houtte coffee

  • Visit AllSports booth to find out about 2009 events to look forward to

  • Get my blood pressure checked by the Vancouver Firefighters

  • Buy some 50/50 tickets from Heart & Stroke

  • Check RESULTS to see if I won my age group and then pick up prizes at PRIZES tent

  • Appreciate volunteers

  • Smile a lot

  • Go for lunch at Mahoney’s at UBC with my friends!

  • Mark Nov 22 on my 2009 calendar so I can come back for the Last Great Run of the Year!
